If anything I'm disappointed that Rosie doesn't even have a photo yet she was said to be released this month. But there's a reason, the longer it takes the more effort they put in and the better the final product will be. I'm quite glad the stock is out now, It was quicker than expected for me atleast. Can't wait for Oliver, I know one will be in my possession asap. Glad to have more stock for Donald and Douglas to pull (they're the main haulers in my collection).

Clearly production has been a lot slower this year than usual, considering how long it took Bachmann to get Oliver a photo.  I could see Bachmann taking their time with Rosie too, but that doesn't matter to me since I'm a lot more excited to see Rheneas.

It's great to see the new HO rolling stock out on time.  Looking forward to Troublesome Truck #5, fingers crossed I get it in time for Christmas.

They all look amazing! I can't wait to get them all, especially Troublesome Truck #5! I'm going to get:

x3 77014 Sodor Salt Wagon's
x1 77015 Troublesome Truck #5
x3 77016 GWR Cattle Wagon's
x2 77017 Refrigerator Car - Live Lobsters'

^^ I'm disappointed that an imagine for Rosie has not been released, despite her actual not happening when she is due. I knew should get released this month. It's coming up to two years since Oliver was announced and he still has not been released. I wouldn't be suprised if we wait this long for Rosie too, in all honesty. I would rather not wait this long, but I have feeling we just might have too.

I'm glad about the new rolling too, but I must point any engine could pull these wagons, apart from the GWR Cattle Wagon. As they are in GWR livery, they should just be dedicated to Duck and Oliver, although they don't have to be! However, the GWR Cattle Wagon's I will buy, will only be for Duck and Oliver on my layout.

^ I find production slow for anything that gets released in model railways, Chaz. It's something I will never understand, when they specialize in it and I just waiting so slow for a product you really want when it's announced. I would rather of Bachmann have kept the release of Rosie a secret until a few weeks when she gets released and then nobody would have to wait so long then, as nobody knows the product is coming out.

I understand the stock can be hauled by any engine I just prefer Donald and Douglas because they seem fit to doublehead, which makes me want to put them with a long train. The more cars the better. And like I said the longer they take with an engine the better the engine is.

I'm actually a bit upset I didn't order them, I didn't think they'd be out in time! :(

^^ I do see what you mean, HLC Railroad. Last time I got my layout out, I set up a long goods train. Normally, I would have my Hornby Murdoch pulling it, but I gave him a rest and put Bachmann Donald and Douglas on the front. They look good as a double-header. Better than one at the front and the other at the back, anyway.

They'll probably get back to speed if they do HO Paxton for 2017, not just a economic rehash of Diesel, but a very popular character that will sell well.

Personally.  I don't really want another class 08. Popular character or no. At least not before someone else.

Clearly Troublesome Truck #5 is doing better than the rest of the new rolling stock that got announced this year, as I expected.  It's already sold out on ModelTrainStuff, and I pre-ordered mine at Tower Hobbies and unfortunately they will not have mine in time for Christmas.  Anyone else having luck getting them?

I agree whole-heartedly. There are already three Class 08 characters from Bachmann, so something else would be a nice change. But the big question is, who would be next, if there will be any?

I wouldn't be to disappointed with another BR Class 08 getting added to the range, especially if they are in the shape of Paxton or Sidney! For a new character, with a different class of locomotive, that has not been released that is in-between a small and a large locomotive, I have the idea of Ryan, who is a GNR Class N2. Does anybody have any thoughts of Ryan getting an announcement, in 2017?

Alrighty then...  I would like to take this opportunity to point out 2 things.  First off, once again I recommend that you work on your spelling and grammar.  Second, it is too early for Ryan to be introduced into Bachmann's Thomas range, just like it is too early for you to be back on this forum again... ::)

Now would be the point in this post where I backup my statement that Ryan isn't a likely candidate for the range at this time with reason, but this is the "NEW HO THOMAS & FRIENDS ROLLING STOCK IS HERE!" thread and not the "Thomas & Friends in 2017" thread.  That being the case, I'll end on that note.

Please be more considerate to me :(. Alright, I admit the conversation is the wrong thread, but I don't see why you should start saying un-kind things like that to me. Please consider me as user, like you do with other users. Thank you.

First of all, you were banned from the forum, a moderator kicked you off the forum because of your behaviors on your old account.  I can't say things were perfect after you (and Chloe) got kicked off but things were certainly a lot less personal before you came back.

Honestly, I don't know why you keep denying this, or at least act completely oblivious towards it, but I really don't think you coming back on here under a new account is what's best for you, or the forum in general.

Let's move on now, back on topic please.

^ Chaz, I don't like people bringing up the past all of the time. I want to bag the past up and throw it in the bin. I got banned because nobody wanted me to be using this site. You all wanted me to go and you worked together to do this. Please stop blaming me and be nice to me. I don't like the way everybody has to keep being mean to me.

Just what is it about you all, like that don't like about me? Is because of my name? Is it my age? Is it because I live in the UK and not the USA? Just why don't anybody like me? This is a question I just don't understand at all.

Mmhmm, because clearly my post was made just to be mean.  It has nothing to do with the simple fact we're dealing with a user that the moderator banned earlier this year.  It's funny how you want to call me out on something when you fail to even understand what I'm talking about first, but that's none of my business...

The user in question (Jacob) was banned from the forum earlier this year because of his behavior, and 2 other users followed him out the door as well.  When these users were banned, their IP address' were blocked and this was meant to keep them from ever returning to the forum.  When a user is banned, clearly the admins do not want them here.  Despite this, Jacob still snuck his way back on under a different IP address (and obvious username), and continues to behave in the same manner he did before.  As Chaz pointed out in his post, the forum was a lot less personal before Jacob came back.  I myself remember all the trouble Jacob caused the first time, and that was the reason for the lack of posts on the forum up until he was kicked off.  We don't need that kind of behavior here.

Unfortunately despite everyone's efforts of trying to explain to you what you're doing (or have done) wrong, you continue to behave just as you did before you were kicked off.  Chaz is right.  You're assumptions and brining up senseless drama are starting to become rather irritating, especially when you're accusing users of things they didn't even do/say.  We've all tried to be nice and explain things to you, but the less you seem to listen.  As John Wayne would say, "Life's hard; it's harder if you're stupid."

^ Plow Bender, can you please stop being mean to me? On my last post, I said: "Now please let us move on". You are dragging this on by posting these nasty comments more at me to upset. I will tell you now it's working. :'(

I did not sneak my way onto the forum, nor do I have a behaviour problem. Please stop jumping to conclusions.

I am also not stupid. I don't think much of that quote of what John Waynn said.

You said "we've all tried be nice" but not once have you been nice to me, Plow Bender. You keep posting these comments aimed to upset me and to kick me off the forum. I have done nothing wrong. You keep stirring all of this up. But why?

It's not my dramas at all. You posting the comment above this one, is causing the drama.

I think somebody needs to take calming down tablet and have a read of the 'Code of Conduct', because this getting the stage of you bullying me now, which I do not want, especially on a model railway forum, that also has nothing to do with them or Thomas & Friends!

Now let's all calm down and forget about this, please. This has all gone way too far.

Hopefully, that stems the growing hostility.

I will say that with the White Mail Car, I've personally liked them as seen throughout the CGI Series, and I'm glad we now have them in that particular color, granted while I consider the Lobster Logo to be kinda pointless, I wouldn't mind using maybe abit of rubbing alcohol to remove them. Nonetheless, I would really consider picking up a couple of them

I do have a question about the TT #5. It seems to me that the roof is now a dark gray rather than light. Is this just on the prototype model or the production model? I have 2 standard salt wagons and wanted to get the one with the face along with the brown one.
Title: Re: NEW HO THOMAS & FRIENDS ROLLING STOCK IS HERE!
Post by: WilsonProductions2 on December 27, 2016, 05:16:23 AM
I have found a video on YouTube, of a guy unboxing the four new wagons: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_F_THXqNhKU/. Worth a watch, if you are interested in how the wagons come in their blister packs and too see exactly what they look like!

Also, the wagons do look exactly same to the images that Bachmann released of them not-so-long-ago. So yes, Rickenbacker 325, Troublesome Truck #5 does have a dark grey / black roof, compared to the previously released Salt Wagon.

Well, both of my Troublesome Truck 5's finally arrived, as promised, here are my thoughts on it:

Troublesome Truck #5 is superior in two different areas from Bachmann.  One of them is that it is I think that this is the best product that got announced in HO this year (not including narrow gauge).  I believe this is the case because everything else that got announced this year in HO (including Rosie) relied more heavily on kid-friendly liveries/decals to attract sales to parents and kids.  While I can understand this approach that Mattel would want Bachmann to take, it's nice seeing Bachmann attempting something that's appealing to both old and young fans with Troublesome Truck #5, and I'll explain why in a bit.

The second area in which it's superior is in comparison to the other troublesome trucks.  Troublesome trucks #1 and #2 were based off of the promotional art from the early 2000's which looked decent for the most part albeit looking a little generic.

Troublesome truck #3 despite having the best face out of all the trucks, had a questionable livery choice.

And then there's Troublesome truck #4... which for a design choice as a whole, left a lot to be desired.

Compared to previous trucks, and everything else that got announced an HO this year, Troublesome Truck #5 is far superior.  It's a piece of rolling stock that doesn't need to rely on kid-friendly decals or a colorful liveries to attract sales to parents and kids.  Instead, it's a classic piece of rolling stock that fans have been wanting back in the range for sometime while also being appealing to the younger generation with the addition of an expressive facial expression.  It also has a really accurate face that resembles one from the classic series, which actually makes me even more surprised that Mattel actually went ahead and approved this.  The pupils on the eyes do look a little large, but really though, it's nothing particularly bad.  On the whole, it's the package.

I even remember suggesting troublesome truck #5 to be in this exact design last year before the announcements, so it's great seeing Bachmann follow through with this!

As Rickenbacker 325 pointed this out earlier, (thank you by the way), but the real difference between this and the regular salt wagon is the roof is a different color.  It's not something I mind personally nor does it stand out horribly.

Some might argue that troublesome truck #5 is redundant since apart from that it's the exact same as the salt wagon we had earlier.  While I can understand that to some extent, I personally think what they did here was pretty well done.  If anything, I think this is what Bachmann should have done with the cattle Wagon for Troublesome truck #3.  It's simple, yet effective.  If we ever get a Troublesome Truck #6, I would like to see them do something similar with a different piece of rolling stock, but that itself is a discussion for another time.

If you are a classic series fan, or want something for your kids/grandkids Bachmann Thomas collection, or even just a fan of collecting troublesome trucks in general, this is definitely worth picking up.

Thank you Bachmann for another home run hit with Troublesome truck #5, looking forward to sharing my thoughts on Oliver as soon as he arrives!

^ Thank you for posting the pictures, Chaz :). I love your layout and of course, ...Troublesome Truck #5! He is 100% the best Troublesome Truck that Bachmann have released, so far. I can't believe my Troublesome Truck #5 has been put on backorder! I want him now more ever, after seeing those images!

The colour of Troublesome Truck #5 is exactly the same as the original Salt Wagon released, despite the roof colours on the two, but is forgivable and it makes them both stand out, in their own way. I wish I had two or three of the original Salt Wagon, then a couple of Troublesome Truck #5's, would make a cracking train (Or maybe a fishy train! Get it? Because they carry fish! :D) of Salt Wagon's.

One observation I have made about the Troublesome Truck 3's you own Chaz, is that your's are brown, when they were dark green. Did you re-paint your Troublesome Truck #3's, or did you remove the faces and put them on the original Cattle Wagon, which is brown and now discontinued?
Title: Re: NEW HO THOMAS & FRIENDS ROLLING STOCK IS HERE!
Post by: sean1994rail on December 28, 2016, 11:04:18 AM
In Addition Chaz, Troublesome Truck 3 is also good for using a Van tooling (Cattle Van in this case) instead of all troublesome trucks being open wagons. Troublesome Truck 4 was only good because of its CGI style classic sad face.

Thanks for the response guys!  To answer your earlier question Jacob, I popped the face off the Bachmann troublesome truck #3 and put it on the original cattle wagon.

Any particular reason though, sean1994rail, that you felt the need to quote my whole post with all those images I posted..?
Title: Re: NEW HO THOMAS & FRIENDS ROLLING STOCK IS HERE!

^ That's alright mate. I thought you might have done that. A Brown Troublesome Truck Cattle Wagon is probably better than a Dark Green one! Bachmann should have painted Toublesome Truck #3 brown, rather than dark green, as what you've done, shows it looks better.

I would always be scared about removing the faces. Either I could damage the wagon or the face. Neither I want to damage! Bachmann Thomas & Friends' products are to expensive to damage.

EXTRA BIT, I'VE ADDED:
Also Chaz, what I have just noticed from your images, after viewing them again, I noticed in the second to last image you posted, you have your Troublesome Trucks in a siding, but I've noticed Troublesome Truck #4 is missing. Do not have Troublesome Truck #4?

Also Chaz, have you removed the face off one of your Troublesome Truck #5 and put it one of your original Salt Wagon's? Looking at the image you posted, the Salt Wagon at the front is clearly Troublesome Truck #5. In the background, looking at the second Salt Wagon, it looks like the roof is light grey (The same colour roof that the original Salt Wagon has, but Troublesome Truck #5 has a dark grey roof). Have you done this, or is my eyesight going crazy, with my old age?!

Also, your images are making me want to either replace, or keep both of Bachmann's and Hornby's Troublesome Trucks #1 and #2. They look so much better to Hornby's Troublesome Trucks (Excluding the Series 1 Troublesome Trucks).

I never got troublesome truck #4, I was honestly a little indifferent to it when it first came out, in regards to both the face and the green six ton wagon too.

I never removed the faces off of both of my troublesome truck #5s yet, but that might be something I'll do for fun later.  Might just be the lighting in the photo.

Bachmann troublesome trucks 1 and 2 are pretty decent, besides the fact they are based off the promotional art.  Clearly though they are still doing well as people are still buying them to this very day.  I wouldn't be surprised if the same happened with troublesome truck #5 too.

^ I think it worth having at least one Troublesome Truck #4, Chaz. I have one of them and it's not my favourite one and you would probably say the same too. However, it's a Troublesome Truck and you can never have too many of them!

How troublesome are your new Troublesome Truck #5's?! Have they caused you a lot grief yet, or haven't they started their troublesome games yet?! I will know then what to prepare for, when mine turns, up it turns up and doesn't run away out of it's package in the hands of the postman!

It was my eyesight going crazy, then! I feel so foolish now that I thought you have swapped the face off one of Troublesome Truck #5 face's, to one of your original Salt Wagon's! :-[

Well, Troublesome Trucks #1 and #2 are what you mainly see, when you see the Troublesome Truck's on the TV series. On the TV series, you mainly see light grey coloured 7 Plank Open Wagon's, which are exactly what Bachmann's Troublesome Truck #1 and #2 are. I admit the face's on both Troublesome Truck #1 and #2 are not what you see in the TV series, but they are the closest Bachmann produce, compared to Troublesome Truck #3, #4 and #5!

When you say promotional art, do you mean the cartoon style / drawing style of the engine's and logoed pictures, similar to the art design on the cardboard inserts that came inside the Bachmann blister pack from 2002 - 2007? You known this sort of thing: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/81bxt4BLcWL._SY355_.jpg ? Forget that the product is the Deluxe Thomas with Annie & Clarabel Train Set, but I mean the Thomas & Friends' box design and the artwork? Is it that sort thing you are referring too?

ANOTHER EXTRA BIT, I'VE ADDED:
Agreed, out the five Troublesome Trucks that Bachmann have produced so far, Troublesome Trucks #1, #2 and #5 will certainly be the best seller's! Let's see what Troublesome Truck #6 will be, that hopefully Bachman will bring out in 2017 or 2018. I have always wanted a Troublesome Truck Salt Wagon and now we have this, so I am hoping Troublesome Truck #6 will be a Troublesome Truck Tanker. This would be my all time favourite Troublesome Truck, but for now, Troublesome Truck #5 has only just been released, so we all have this to get our paw's on and enjoy, not to worry about future Troublesome Trucks that Bachmann may or not release! :)

Don't worry about the photo, most likely a lighting issue since I took the photos with my phone.  Probably not the best quality out there.

But yes that's what I was referring to for the troublesome trucks promotional art for the early 2000's it was basically used for stuff like books, cards, magazines, etc.  It was the same method they used for the other products that first came out in 2002.

Basically just to give you an idea.

^ Thank you Chaz.

Ah yes, I can see by looking at that photo where Bachmann and Hornby got the face's for their Troublesome Truck #1 and #2 wagons. They pretty much exactly the same as that. I must say though, Bachmann made a better job with, with the choice of wagon they would use and the face!

I'm really hoping TT #6 is a Tanker car. It's the only kind of wagon that isn't made by Bachmann that is a troublesome truck in the series. Although I must agree that TT #s 1,2, and 5 are the most superior models of the trucks so far.

I agree. Although we've only seen tankers with faces in Season 4, they seem popular among us, and they would add variety to the Troublesome Trucks that are available.

Troublesome Truck #5 seems to be doing extremely well in terms of sales. I also got one for Christmas and was not disappointed one bit. Thank you Chaz for your very thorough review on it. I couldn't agree with you more. I started a Troublesome Trucks thread a few months ago. If any of you have any future ideas, please drop off a comment :).

I saw the other day, on a Google search, a plain black Bachmann Thomas & Friends HO/OO Gauge Tanker. I could imagine tht with a face on one end, named as Troublesome Truck #6 and that would be amazing. I wouldn't know which would be better though if it was released - Troublesome Truck #5 or Troublesome Truck #6!

Anyway, as I said in an earlier post, we all and still have Troublesome Truck #5 to enjoy!

Thank you guys very much for the positive feedback on my "review" of troublesome truck #5!  It's definitely a gem in the range when it comes to rolling stock and I'm glad to see other people enjoying it/looking forward to getting one.

Thanks for the response guys!  To answer your earlier question Jacob, I popped the face off the Bachmann troublesome truck #3 and put it on the original cattle wagon.

Any particular reason though, sean1994rail, that you felt the need to quote my whole post with all those images I posted..?
okay Chaz, my repsonse has been edited to remove the same images.

Just in case anybody might want to want to watch it, I've found an image of the Refrigerator Car - Live Lobsters image, as a video on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0vjx-wZy0U/. It's image I have found of it as close up without the image being pixelated and blurry! :P

It seems like the image was taken at the New York Toy Fair back in November 2016, and it seems to be as exactly the same to drawn-style prototype found in the 2016 catalogue and the image of the model on the Bachmann shop website.

The more I view it, the more like it. Think I will get 2 of these, at some point! I like collecting Utility Wagons, but I would prefer plain, unloged one's!
