Title: Adding Steam Generators to HO/OO Scale models
Post by: EthanTankEngine99 on January 01, 2017, 03:12:55 AM
I was curious on how to install one and what requirements there are for smoke generators.
Are there some smoke generators that can work with Analog/DC.
Thanks!

most  analog /  DC  engines  originally came with  installed  "smoke generators "  but for the most part these are unrealistic in comparison  with the smoke emissions of proto-typical steam engines and tend to cause a mess  in rooms where they  are used.  That said . Bachmann does sell  engines  that have them. Check out the Walthers Reference Catalog or their website  for manufacturers who make them .   Pray tell why do you want to pollute the air you breath with noxious chemicals ?  John2.

If you want to mess with smoke, yes, pun inteneded, look at the below link.

Seuthe seems to be popular from what I see in different train forums. They will operate on DC, as they were first designed for and DCC.
Bachmann sells one. Look in the loco diagrams on how they are installed. You can see them in the Parts page also. Do a lot of research.

You will need mechanical and electronic experience to install these in locomotives.

If you wonder. They draw more current than decoders can supply but you can use a mini relay to power them.
