If you're talking about the analog speed controller and a turnout, you need to remove the spade connectors on the red wires and insert the bare wires into the knobs at the top of the controller.  (They either push in or pull out to reveal the contacts)

It seems you have a controller without necessary Accessories 16 VAC terminals

The Bachmann Web Store picture of the Power Pack and Speed Controller 44211 does not show it having the push to open release to close Accessories 16 VAC terminals.

The two Accessories 16 VAC terminals can be seen protruding from the topside of Power Pack and Speed Controller 44212

Use the accessory AC terminals of a DC model train power pack to power the switch machine in the E-Z Track Remote Turnout.

Click Here  (http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/dwg/dwgs/HO__6_Turnouts_Instructions.pdf) for remote turnout instructions. Read all the instructions do not depend only on the illustrations.

You can also use a wall wart transformer rated 12 to 16 volts output at 500 milliamps (mA) up to 1 amp.  Either AC or DC output wall wart transformer will work.
