Title: New York Toy Fair 2017
Post by: sean1994rail on January 31, 2017, 05:01:55 PM
The annual New York Toy Fair is on the 18-21 February 2017!

What are you hoping for Bachmann to announce this year for Thomas & Friends?

Hoping to finally get Large Scale Edward, and Henrietta. But the talks on here would make me fine with someone like Mavis. Just as long as it's someone who can actually pull something. Winston ::)

Paxton for HO, as he's my favorite Diesel. And he'd be easy to do, as everyone else has said at least 3 times. :P

Maybe another figure, Sir Robert Norramby seems the most likely, or possibly even Dowager Hatt.

Sir Handel for HOn30. Best thing Bachmann could do with this line is go in order, so just keep doing what they're doing now.
Oh, and Brake Vans for the Narrow Gauge dudes. I would see them being another new tooling, so I see them being released in a few colours to use the new tooling as much as possible.
I'm safely assuming they'd come in Brown (CGI) and Red, and Blue (Model Series). I'd award bonus points to Bachmann if they include a tail lamp on the back, like Skarloey has.

I'd say we'll see HO/OO Paxton, Flatcars with Oil Drums (hey I can dream), and one other piece of rolling stock. I'm sure Rosie will be revealed in her new livery- there's really no other option to be very honest. Narrow Gauge I'm betting Peter Sam, he's more recognizable and had his own episode in S16. Large Scale I can see Edward for sure. I think surprises and extra items will be limited this year because Bachmann is so backlogged in releasing products. Heck, it's been TWO years since Oliver was announced! I remembering being so excited in 8th grade, thinking I'd have him by that next Christmas...little did I know... 😂

Looking forward to it!

make this in oversized g scale so it can span over my garden layout like a more handsome colossus of rhodes over my miniature village that my wife insists on putting ugly gnomes in

Being that I'm a large scale guy, that's pretty much what I'm going to stick with in my post.  If you would like to see one of my more extensive posts on 2017 predictions, look at the link below.

http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/board/index.php/topic,31790.msg243492.html#msg243492

For 2017 in large scale, I'd personally like to see 1 (or more) of the following.

Edward
Mavis
Troublesome Truck #3

To keep it short and sweet, many would be happy to see these models simply because they would be popular.  Edward and Mavis being locomotives is something large scale has needed for years.  Being smaller models is also something that Bachmann wants.  Troublesome Truck #3 is also an easy model to make if it's a recolor of the ice cream wagon with a face.  I'd even be happy to see it as a tanker if Bachmann wants to go that route.

Some other predictions I have are...

Rosie
Henrietta
Red Coaches

Like it or not, I would honestly welcome Rosie into the large scale range.  Regardless what the fans/haters think of her, she is a locomotive and therefore has my approval.  The red coaches would be another welcome addition to the range, but might be asking much considering their not just a simple recolor.  I still feel they're a good choice of rolling stock in many people's books.  As for Henrietta, I'm not going over it again...

Emily w/ DCC Sound (with moving eyes)
James w/ DCC Sound (with moving eyes)
Toby w/ DCC Sound (with moving eyes)
Winston w/ DCC Sound (Yeah right...) :P

The first 3 are pretty much a given.  Seeing as we already have Thomas and Percy and since I already know Emily, James, and Toby are equipped with the mounts for the DCC hardware, it's going to happen at some point in time.  Toby and/or James seem most likely for this year.  Personally I welcome these additions as well.

Lastly are predictions that look like long shots, but oh well.

Bill and Ben
Duck and/or Oliver
Mail Car

Seeing these models as possibly less likely, but would make great additions to the range.  Bill and Ben would require a single tooling, which cuts production costs for 2 models in half.  Duck and Oliver have a large fan base and are smaller models, but a large demand hasn't been there for them in large scale.  I still say the mail car could also be used for recolors later on, but seeing as it is a boogied piece of rolling stock (and would be the first in the range) and its size makes me have my doubts.  Like I said earlier, I see it as a long shot for any of these models to be in the announcements.

At the least I think many would be happy just to see Edward and Henrietta in large scale.  Regardless what the announcements are, the range needs to get a locomotive and preferably not something small like Phillip.  I'm still saying Troublesome Truck #3 is an easy solution for additional rolling stock, given that it doesn't turn out to be a green or blue van with a face.  Fingers crossed the 2017 announcements hold a bright future for large scale.

Would be nice to see another troublesome truck added to the growing range. Possibly the tanker people are asking for. Engine wise I'd like see Daisy.

If they made duck or bill and Ben in large scale. They'd sell like crazy.

Most likely Duck, he is so popular after all and not that big. But the bill & Ben would be great money makers as you can't just buy one and yet again their not too big.

Yeah, well it could be practically just anything whatsoever. You may love it or not, but at the end of the day it is up to them.

Take a look at this picture that I found: https://twitter.com/search?f=tweets&q=bachmann%20rheneas&src=typd

It may not be a very good picture, but it displays all of the 2016 announced HO scale products including Rosie, Rheneas, and the narrow gauge slate wagons that we never saw beside their stock photos.

Here's the link to just the picture itself... https://mobile.twitter.com/JD41796/status/833907899067990017/photo/1

But you are right, Rosie was clearly there along with Oliver and Rheneas, my question is how did we miss the slate wagons? If only we had a better picture. But beggars can't be choosers.

No close ups, kinda stinks, we need a high quality look at each one. This unfortunately doesn't cut it. We kinda got a better look at Rosie and rheneas though. Got a better shot than we had before of the slate wagons.

At this point we are better off waiting until Bachmann themselves upload a better photo of Rheneas in the web store.  It already looks great from what we've seen so far but I think a proper photo of it will do more justice for the model.

I know. The shots of all the products on display sucked. Oh well, sorry guys. At least I've tried.

This is 2017
This would be better suited for the Thomas & Friends in 2018 thread. That is where wishlists or guesses for future products go until the 2018 Official announcements are out.
