Title: 4-4-0 stalling
Post by: EBT17 on March 27, 2017, 10:27:04 AM
My Spectrum 4-4-0 recently started stalling and running hesitantly through turnouts. Any ideas why? I use Atlas manual turnouts.

I'm assuming you did the standard "clean the tracks/clean the wheels"? Whenever I get that problem (usually with the 4-4-0s) that usually fixes it. (though, I did have a 4-4-0 Jupiter from the 80s that had a stripped worm gear, and drive rod... fortunately, those were only a couple bucks each on the Bachmann site, but that one didn't stall... it just revved the motor, and didn't move)

If the turn outs are steel, that could be a problem as well... steel tends to corrode in ways you may or may not see, especially if there are any abrasions on it (but then, abrasions can cause problems with any track)

Also, if it's ONLY the turn outs, check your connections... take the track off, flip it over, and give it the ol "harry eyeball".
