Title: E-Z Command 5 Amp Power Booster
Post by: OERM306 on June 30, 2017, 12:03:38 PM
Will the Power Booster operate on it's own as an 18 Volt power source for a static display controlled by Bluetooth?  Or, is input from a controller necessary in conjunction with the Booster?

The owner's manual (http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/dwg/dwgs/449105-AMPInstructions.pdf) implies that the Power Booster must be controlled by an outside source, e.g. E-Z Command Control Center or some other DCC input.

Hope this helps!

I believe you want to use a straight DC power supply to the rails, as input to the coach lights and the decoder in the loco.

You would not want DCC of any form to be the input, but you could rectify the DCC output to reasonable DC simply.

It's douibtful the booster would output anything unless given an input signal, but if you already have this unit you can measure the output. If you don't already have one, don't buy it, and just get an inexpensive fixed voltage DC supply, they are cheap, like under $20.
