Title: HO Jupiter Loco Item No. 52702 Sound module
Post by: Robert Kiewiet on July 24, 2017, 10:41:23 PM
Can I replace the"Sound Value" DCC/ Sound module with a Tsunami sound module for a greater variety of sound affects?
Does it require soldering the wires or is it a "plug-in" replacement? Will it work with the existing speaker?  Please advise.
Thank You!

Soldering's not that hard. A short tutorial can be found here: https://www.build-electronic-circuits.com/how-to-solder/

Get some wire and a piece of copper plated perf board, similar to this:

Then practice a bit before you try it on a decoder.

A 25 watt soldering iron works well for small wires and PC boards. If you'll be doing wire-to-wire connections, some small heat shrink tubing is handy also. It stays put better than electrical tape. You can find it at most hardware or home improvement stores.
