Title: Coupler removal help
Post by: Bill C on October 06, 2017, 09:12:09 AM
I'm new to HO train hobbying. I have a new Bachmann unit (Patriots train, by Hawthorne) that needs a replacement coupler as it's missing the spring. I already have an EZ Mate replacement, but I have no idea how to disconnect the stock one from the body. It's a body mounted coupler, not truck mounted, but there doesn't seem to be any screw located near the coupler. I've tried tugging on it to some degree but I don't want to break it. Do I have to remove the whole body from the car or is there a simple trick to disconnecting it? Thanks.

It sounds like it has a snap on cover over the coupler. If so you should be able to lift the sides of the cover and it should pop off.
