Title: What decoder does the 2-6-6-2 articulated use?
Post by: Flare on November 17, 2017, 12:40:16 AM
I'm trying to program my new articulated in DecoderPro and I'm unable to change the speed tables.

I've tried auto-detecting the decoder, and it says it's either a Bachmann 2 or 4 function decoder, but neither setting lets me change the speeds.

I've read that the tender comes in two versions, mine has an 8-pin decoder connected to a 21-pin adapter board.

Well I've tried swapping the decoder with a 44915 2-function from one of my rail trucks, but it's still not letting me adjust the starting voltage.

I've even tried reprogramming CV 2 directly, and that's not helping either:  It still doesn't budge until the 8th speed step.

Is this a limitation of the loco or am I missing something?

I have several 2-6-6-2's , no problems at all.
Maybe it needs a bit of lubrication?
Might do the trick.

Not a bad idea, but the gear covers on the underside don't want to come off.

How do I get at them without breaking something?

It has been a while since i did what you are doing.
I think i can remember something with the black and red wire keeping the gear cover in place.
so you have to de-solder the wires on top.
