Title: Power supply for lighting
Post by: rstroud on December 07, 2017, 02:33:00 PM
Whats a good economical power supply for lighting on the layout? I have been using old cell phone chargers since the put out between 6-8 volts mostly. What are your suggestions?

If you're not using DCC, most analog controllers have 'accessory' terminals for lights and turnouts that run at a constant 12-16v AC.

If you're using DCC, 'wall warts' are a good alternative, otherwise a used analog controller can be obtained for under $10 on Ebay or at a brick and mortar store that specializes in model trains.
