That could mean lots of things?
On freight cars, on locomotives, on passenger cars, on cabooses, on what?
If it's any other those, look at lots of train photos and videos on line, that will tell you everything you need to know.

If you're talking about the manufacturer's model numbers, they're normally printed on the end of the box.
