I just purchased a N Prairie 2-6-2 & tender PRR #2761. The problem I am having is the Pilot truck keeps popping off of the rails.is there a cure for this?

Check the gauge of the track using an N scale track gauge. Also check the width of the pilot wheels using said gauge.

Glad you got it fixed.
If you want to realize the full potential of that little lokie, balance it, and then add a 'Spectrum" tender.
The difference those two modifications make is incredible.
