Title: BACHMANN 'BURLINGTON NORTHERN' SD40-2 DIESEL LOCO - 6836 -
Post by: fruchtriese on April 27, 2018, 03:47:13 PM
Hello

I bought this diesel loco once on ebay.
Now the gears are broken.

Is there anywhere spare parts for this locomotive or a spare part list.

You could try contacting the Bachmann parts department directly, but I seriously doubt that they still have parts available. It's probably been 20 years since the last production run of that model.

Get your calipers and measure the diameter of the axle bore, the outside diameter of the gear, and the tooth count.
Likely to find a suitable replacement.
Check the geared axles from the old Dash 8's, or the old F units.
If you really like that lokie and plan to run it a lot, consider buying an organ donor from a show, or off eBay.

I don't own that lokie, does the gear have enough of a boss on one side that a collar can be fitted?

Arm and a Leg bay... aka ebay is possibly one's best bet .
