I know I have never seen real locomotives in a parade going down a main street. 1939 opening of Union Station in L A.

At 5:38, where the young guys are checking out the one, I can imagine them thinking, "Hmmm. If I take the fenders off. Put some wider tires on it. Tinker with engine..." ;D
