Title: Tankers again
Post by: Trainman203 on June 23, 2018, 07:23:16 PM
On the news just now there  was a story about how a bunch of "tankers" derailed up in Iowa somewhere.

Man.  How did all those ships end up way up in Iowa?  😱😮😂 And on a railroad track at that? 😱😄🚢🛳😂😂😂😂

There's a prototype for everything.

Lightship 'Tulip' on the tracks near New London, CT's Union Station after the 1938 hurricane:

What drove the New Haven nuts was they weren't allowed to cut the ship up to get it off the tracks. It was surveyed and found to be sound, except for the propeller, so they were directed to clear things up so it could be refloated.

Those pictures made me think.  Both ships and trains used to look a lot better.
