Tony,

There is a horizontal seam on the back of the headlamp assembly. CAREFULLY separate the top and bottom half of the light assembly with a thin straight edge. I used an old Exacto chisel blade (I forget the number).

For additional protection for your LED headlight, add an additional 1N4001 diode in the circuit, attaching the Anode of the 1N4001 to the Cathode of the LED, and the Cathode of the 1N4001 to the Anode of the LED. The purpose of  this is to proved a simpler path for the reversed polarity to travel when the loco is backing up. Keep the resistor in the common  wire, positive or negative, either will work.

Hi Bob, I did not see any seam...But here is what I did: on the bottom of the housing is an opening where the wires come thru. I cut away part of the opening with a rail nipper and was able to insert my tweezers and push out the reflector and lens. Removed old bulb and installed new bulb. Reassembled everything and its working good. Thank You for your help.

Just an update on which led I used...It's an Evans Design 5mm led, with a Bridge rectifier, a capacitor, and a resistor. It's working well.
