10' x 12' layout several tracks side by side - what is considered best for AWG for bus and feeders?

14 gauge stranded copper for the bus lines and 18 gauge stranded copper for the feeders and you will be good to go. Your layout isn't large enough to require heavier wire.

Our club some years ago used stranded #14 for the Buss and solid #22 for feeders. The #22 was easier to hide and no strands to deal with. We just had to make sure not to nick the wire when stripping the insulation at the track point. We used a Micro Mark scratch brush to clean the rail where we soldered. Makes soldering easier.
