Title: Dimensions of the OEM Large Scale "G" track Layout.
Post by: blendervill@yahoo.com on September 25, 2018, 09:19:08 PM
I'm looking for the Track layout Dimensions for the BIG HAULER, Polar Express & White Christmas Sets Large Scale Track.
or the dimensions  of Length and Width of the OEM layout.
I think it around 47" by 64" but would like the actual specs.
I'm making plywood platforms to put the track on.

So I would like the Inside Radius and Out side Radius of the Track Turns and Length.

Thanks,
Gary

Gary,

I can't tell you the dimensions of the oval as I have never owned a complete set. I CAN tell you that the curves are 2 foot radius on the centerline of the track. So add the length of the ties and that will give you outside dimensions. As for the straights, I am almost positive they are 1 foot each. Again the math should be fairly easy.

Happy Railroading.

Thanks.
I see why Im getting different answers.
Some people measure to Ties, some to inside track and some to Center line of track.

Thanks, I like the idea of using the center line of the track.

Gary,

All scales measure track to the centerline of the track. The difference between smaller scales and large scale is large scale refers to circle diameter instead of radius. Can sometimes be confusing.
