With unavailable parts as often happens today, you have to buy a second engine for parts (on line auctions).  What that really means is you get a new one that works and keep the broken one you already have for parts.  Sorry , but that is today's model railroad world- replacement instead of repair.

Have you tried calling Bachmann and see if they have a replacement available? They do replace locos for a fee.  Check the Parts, Service and Information page for cost and info and see if it is worth it compared to ebay. Maybe they could repair it. Another guess.
A few years ago Bachmann replaced one for me. I sent in a two motor 44 ton and got a single motor DCC ready 44 ton.
