Title: Martinsburg No. 1 Coal Mine
Post by: WoundedBear on February 26, 2019, 01:41:18 PM
After finishing the Double Covered Water Tank, This little mine building caught my eye. I had one little corner by another larger mine that was in need of something.

Between Feb 09, when I took the first photo and Feb 20, when I took the last photo, I managed to cobble this little industry together.

The base buildings came together quickly.

The roofs took some time on this one. Old left over Muir Shingles for some parts and laser cut simulated metal sheathing for the power/change house roofs.

A small base of plywood and foam board, and the structure can get planted.

Sid, that looks great.  I wish I could go a little faster some times.
Really nice work.

What is the purpose of the little trestle?

The trestle carries a dump cart for spoils or tailings. Worthless material got dumped off the end.

I thought that but wasn't sure.  There is a non/track chute supposedly to load coal into vehicles.

Arkansas used to have numbers of small zinc mines 100 years ago.   This kit might be just the thing, it is primitive looking enough.   I thought I've seen it still available but could be wrong.

LaserKit Mine No. 1, and the extenstion for the trestle, are still available direct from LaserKit: http://www.laserkit.com/bldgho2.htm

Also from several other places on line at a slight discount.
