Title: Couplers
Post by: wach10dorf on March 04, 2019, 03:31:27 PM
Hello everyone,

I've just started back in to model RR after 35 years. Boy have things changed!
I recently received a Bachmann 0-6-0 Loco Model: 50566 as a gift. Excited to get it going I pulled out some my very old track and rolling stock.
To my surprise the model RR industry went and changed coupler systems on me! HaHa After a bit of research and confusion, here I am.

Can anyone tell me how/which couplers I need so I can switch them out of my old rolling stock? I'd rather do this instead of purchasing new stock if it's cheaper! I just want to make sure I get the correct couplers to do the job. My old stock has Rapido couplers. I'm not quite sure the couplers on my new Loco as research has left me dumbfounded over how many types of similar couplers there are. So if any one knows what Bachmann uses as a standard couplers it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Dear Wach,
There are several brands of magnetic couplers;
we, of course, hope you choose our EZ Mates.
Most cars will use center shank medium. As you
install them other needs will become intuitive.
Many people use a transition car with a new
coupler on one end; the car moving back through
the train as cars are converted.
Have fun!

if the new loco has knuckle couplers , then Bachmann do a Rapido version that simply fits into the coupler box on the new loco's or car's/coach's . there is usually a packet (2 Rapido's) in new items of rolling stock .
