Title: Powering turnouts?
Post by: alv7722 on April 04, 2019, 05:13:50 PM
I am just starting a layout.  The instructions for the Bachmann turnouts say they must be powered by AC.  Can they be powered by the DCC track current???

Out of the factory, the turnout motor and included toggle switch can only be powered by fixed voltage on the accessory terminals of an analog power supply.  To use with DCC, you would need to connect the turnout motor wires to a stationary decoder (i.e. Digitrax DS64) with a control system that supports turnout operation in DCC.  Hope this helps.
