Title: What adhesive for foam under E-Z Track?
Post by: Flare on November 19, 2019, 07:18:12 PM
I'm looking for an adhesive that will bond Woodland Scenics' foam Track-Bed to the underside of E-Z Track.

It has a similar contour and the material is sound-deadening, so it seems perfect for filling E-Z Track's 'echo chamber', but I haven't seen anyone try this combination online.

What adhesive is compatible with hard plastic but won't melt the foam?

Anything not solvent based, right?

It might work. The WS stuff is 1 3/4" wide. The underside of E-Z Track is 1 3/4" wide from inside lip to inside lip. You would have to squash the edges of the WS stuff or trim it down length ways. If you glued it in, it might fit because it would depress the center of it and it would retract the sides some. Double sided tape maybe would work instead of glue.

Woodland Scenics recommendation is to first rough up the surface of the trackbed to be glued with 80 grit sandpaper. Then apply their 'Foam Tack' glue to both surfaces and let set for at least 20 minutes, but no more than an hour, and press the surfaces together.

While 'Foam Tack' glue looks like regular 'White Glue', it's not. 'White Glue' acts almost like grease when used with most foam products, allowing them to slide around.
