Title: Couplers
Post by: DMJ-Oregon on December 10, 2019, 04:15:22 PM
New to training - just received an Empire Builder set.  Ordered a couple of additional Bachmann cars and they arrived with (knuckle - ?) couplers different than what is on the cars of the Empire Builder set.  Do all couplers need to be the same?  Set included a pack of RAPIDO couplers.

Ideally all couplers should be the same for inter-compatibility.

If you want to run both styles, you can make a 'conversion car' with a knuckle coupler on one end and a rapido on the other to use newer and older cars together in the same train.

Thank you.  Looks to me that what I have is (maybe) two different versions of knuckle couplers - all have rounded hooks/couplers, rather than the right angle look of the Rapido.
