Title: Part Identification on Flat Car
Post by: Rivercoon on January 03, 2020, 01:01:39 AM
I have an old Baltimore & Ohio flat car 1525 with logs.  On each end is a flip-up cross bar.  I have seen this same piece used other places like the rear of the tender that comes with 4-6-0 engines.  Is there is a name for this part.

It is meant to simulate the coupler pin lift bar. It actually has no purpose on the Bachmann cars.

On the real car there would be a short chain from the center of the bar to the top of the coupler pin. Lifting the end of the bar from a position clear of the track would allow the trainman to uncouple the car safely.
