Title: Has Bachmann made any DCC locos that don't have a shrink-wrap decoder?
Post by: Grapevine Flyer on March 29, 2020, 04:47:33 PM
Having a discussion with a friend. Has Bachmann ever made any DCC locos that do not have a replaceable shrink-wrap decoder in it?  Where the DCC decoder is integrated into a PC circuit board (without a separate decoder involved)? I imagine this could be the case with N scale, but I'm not sure.

Yes. GP30,GP35,GP7, and GP9 come to mind.     Joe

Yes. I have six steamers and 3 diesels that have decodes built into the board--no unplug decoder.

All mine have no shrink. I use to have a Bachmann steamer with a plug in shrink but I tossed it.

Edit.
Ok, I take that back. I put shrink wrapped Tsunami Micro in some years ago on the PC board.
A Spectrum large driver came with onboard sound and no shrink. All opened along side the DCC ready PC board.
