Title: Which Pacific would YOU like to see produced? (no poll yet)
Post by: Guilford Guy on December 24, 2007, 02:52:52 PM
Okay, Since many were complaining that their favorite pacific was not in the previous poll I have rethought the poll. Please submit one or 2 classes of Pacifics you would like to see. I will then make the Poll with ALL the submissions...

Any Canadian 4-6-2 would be pretty nice.

And I mean ANY......

I have never seen one since my brass models were stolen eight years ago, and before that, never.  Only Tri-Ang did a 'sort-of' CPR 'Pacific' loco with a closed cab back in the 1950's....in 00 gauge/scale.

TAC,
Sorry to hear your brass got stolen.  I guess you never found the buyers.  The thief should be tied to the rails.

tac,

Sorry to hear about your lost items - speedy trials and swift public executions - that would prevent such things in the future.

At this point, ANY Pacific that is NOT a PRR K4 gets a vote from me!

All the ones mentioned above sound good

My vote is for a B&O President class Pacific.  In a close second place, the Southern Ps-4.

I lost thirteen Canadian brass, all factory painted, including the very rare 1939 Royal Train in its presentation casket.  Never seen one before or since.  Total replacement value here in yUK was a little over $20,000 at the time.

And nope, never saw or heard of any one of them again..stolen to order, of that there was no doubt.

Let me know if you ever get offered any Canuckian brass without boxes...
I has a nice sharp hockey stick here waiting.

B&M P-1 or P-2. Especially I suppose P-2-c, for the opportunity to do Minuteman and Flying Yankee

It looks like the ex Blue Mountain and Reading, which, I believe, is a USRA light Pacific.
Merry Seventh Day of Christmas and Happy New Year.

Gene,

You are correct,  that pic is of the Reading and Northern,  formally the Blue Mountain and Reading's 425.   The four and a quarter has been undergoing test firings and runs over the past several days,  here in Pennsylvania.  Rumor has it that if enough people buy tickets to ride behind 425,  then restoration of the ex-Reading T-1(4-8-4) 2102 may be considered.
A note - the light pacific that 425 represents,  was one that Precision Craft was supposedly going to do,  but who knows when.   Their long awaited Pennsy 2-10-0 is shown as a pre-production model in the latest issue of Model Railroader that arrived here yesterday.   Now,   if the 2-10-0 is somewhere around 2 years overdue......then how far away may the 4-6-2s be?    Time will tell.

The 425 is NOT a USRA light.  She is somewhat smaller than that overall.  She was built originally (IIRC) for the Gulf, Mobile & Northern (later Gulf, Mobile and Ohio) and became part of Paulson Spence's collection in the late 1950's.  I believe only the 425 and Wilmington & Western 4-4-0 98 are the only survivors from Spence's collection.  Bob, remember the 425's very brief stint on the Valley Forge Scenic RR?

EBTNUT,

Even though I am from the Philadelphia area,  I did not know of the engine until it became part of the Blue Mountain and Reading.   I think the Valley Forge Scenic was around in my time that I was away from trains,  modeling trains,  and photography.
