Will the Baldwin 4-6-0 Steam Locomotive #383 DCC N 51460 work with the standard dc power controller? I'm looking for the headlight to work but none of the other dcc functions.
The decoders in Bachmann locos are dual mode. They will work with DC power packs but you have to turn the pack up higher before the loco will begin to move and the light comes on. The microprocessor on the decoder does not wake up until the voltage is about five volts and maybe six or seven volts until the loco begins to move, at least with HO models.
