Title: Big Hauler vs Thomas rolling stock wheel sizes?
Post by: Flare on November 18, 2020, 11:35:56 AM
I'd like to use spoked wheels on kitbashed tender made from a Big Hauler bobber caboose frame.

The Thomas line has spoked wheels that I like, but are Bachmann's Thomas wheels the same diameter as the ones used in the Big Hauler line, and will the axles be compatible?

Hi

Big Hauler wheels are 31MM so you may want to ask someone on the Thomas Forum to measure their wheel sets for you.

Good Luck with your project!

Hello,
I do not have any Thomas g-scale items, but regularly use Bachmann wheels on my LGB cars. LGB does make a spoked wheel so IF Bachmann's Thomas is the same size, then the LGB spoke wheel should work perfectly.
Happy Rails (and Thanksgiving) to You,
Ted

No. Thomas spoked wheels are significantly larger.  Bachmann Europe makes spoked 31mm wheels under the Liliput name - I buy them from a UK supplier, Kernow Model Rail Centre

As Ted says, LGB make spoked wheels, and they are interchangeable (mostly - sometimes the axles are too long.)  I have swapped LGB wheels for Bachmann solid and Liliput spoked on some of the small freight cars.
