Title: use toggle switches instead of bachmann turnout control
Post by: richardm on June 19, 2021, 04:21:50 PM
I'd like to use toggle switches in place of EZ track turnout controllers. Does leaving the power on to the turnout after it has been thrown cause any damage to the turnout mechanism? Would like to have LED's on the control panel show the position of the turnout.

Power to the Bachmann turnout switch machine must be momentary else the switch machine will burn out.

Use an Atlas Snap Relay with the coils wired in parallel with the switch motor. Use a seperate 12v power supply to power the LEDs through the relay contacts. The circuit is included with the relay instruction sheet.
