Title: Older GP38 drive shaft
Post by: JimT on January 31, 2023, 05:57:21 PM
I have an older about 15-20 year old locomotive. It was damaged and needed to replace one drive truck w/worm drive and dogbone type drive shaft.
Truck was perfect replacement. Drive shaft received was too long (there are many). Rear existing drive shaft is 22.4mm in length. I can't find one that length on Bachmann site. Anyone have any idea where to get replacement. See attached photo of existing shaft.
Thanks, Jim20230131_154937_exported_2928~4.jpg

I have made shafts from scrap sprue with a metal pin in each end.  I have also cut a section out of the middle and then used shrink tubing to splice the ends back together.

I have been thinking about doing a splice.
Thanks much for the idea's.

Update, tried the trim and shrink tube.
It worked great.

So I assume your fix worked?
