Title: Bachmann BAC-53451 4-8-2 Light Mountain (DCC & Sound) Start/stop problem
Post by: mikew2 on February 08, 2023, 04:40:45 PM
I have a Light Mountain that operated just fine from when new in Feb 2020 until Dec 2022. It sat on my layout while I was out of town for the holidays. When I returned (02/06/23) and tried to run the loco, it would only move forward a variable distance, then stop cold, then start again. This behavior repeated no matter how the throttle was set, and the starts/stops occurred if the loco was moving forward or reverse. (The track was clean and other locos ran without this problem.) Now, I discovered that the start/stop behavior disappeared if I muted the Sound. Any ideas why letting a loco sit unused would cause this problem to occur?

Thanks for any feedback

Dear Mike,
If you're using DCC try setting CV 8  to  8 which will reset the decoder.
Good luck!

Did the CV 8 reset. Unfortunately, didn't eliminate the problem. Any other suggestions? (Or, time to send it in for repairs?)

Dear Mike,
Do so, but call first so they're expecting it.
Thanks!

might've fried a wire or the board, either or. or something completely different. yep, time to send it to Bachmann.
