Title: Climax gears

Did the first run of the climax have gear issues like thd shay did?

I don't think so but make sure you have the slip drive shaft. Others will probably jump in.

I have never heard of any, and B'mann only sells spare Shay trucks so that might be a sign!

The first run of the Climax did not have gear problems.  As Mickey points out it did have a problem with the drive shaft if one truck was moving at a slightly different speed than the other.  When that happened the driveshaft would bind up and cause erratic operation. The slip driveshaft solved that problem.
