Title: HO Starter Set Power Supply
Post by: Walt66 on November 27, 2023, 09:18:53 PM
How much track will a HO starter set power. Looking to set up a Christmas village with about 40' of track and wondering if it would work.

With that much track you'll need to run multiple power feeds to the track. Quick and dirty way to find out how many is start the train near the power connection. When it slows down or stops, add a feed at that location. Repeat until the speed is constant all the way around. Or you could just add a power feed every 8 feet or so.

The more important question is how many locomotives the controller will run. In theory, your power supply can power an infinite amount of track. The wea spots in the circuit are the joints between the track sections, thus Len's suggestion for multiple feeders to provide alternate paths for electricity to reach your train.
