Title: Big Hauler Ore Car Prototypes?
Post by: thealtonroute on January 06, 2008, 12:49:15 AM
I think I remember hearing somewhere that the BH side dump ore cars are actually pretty close to an ET&WNC prototype...

Is this correct???

Thanks...

They are similar to cars made by Fairbanks Morse and Western Wheeled Scraper Co.  gj

Dear Alton,
When I built the prototype models, I spliced our high side gons, and made them resemble Quincy & Torch Lake cars. I had done a string for  myself (which, I report with due modesty, won a ribbon at the then annual W,M,&Va GRS Gathering) and when I showed them in Philly they were selected for production.
Not exact for anything, but credible, and folks seem to like them.
Have fun!

I seem to be referring to another car--the 4-wheel side dump car--if the wrong car, sorry--

Sorry Glenn!
These are based on side dump cars made by many manufacturers. I'll look it up when I get home next week.
Have fun!
