Title: Springfield, MA (Amhearst Railway Society) Show
Post by: Tom Lapointe on January 09, 2008, 06:20:43 PM
Mr. Bach-man, can I look forward to see you at the Amhearst Railway Society's train show in Springfield, MA on Jan. 26 & 27?  Like to have a look at some of the new products! ;)

Also, it's looking at the moment that I may not  :-[ be able to make the ECLSTS this year due to work commitments; will Bachmann be displaying at the York TCA spring meet? ???  (Might be able to make the TCA meet, just re-joined last year! :)).

It can be crowded so look up the sellers, buildings, floor layouts, clinics at the above web site and plan accordingly.

Bachmann Industries has at least five tables at the show.
Bachmann Trains/Peterborough RR has four tables.
The Bach Man was supposed to be there last year but I did not have a chance to look him up.

I wish I could go, but that is my Board of Visitors weekend - actually 25-26, but I'm not going to drive through the night.  One year I'll go.

And, best of all, I won't be there. Now that's something to look forward to. That way, less stuff will get broken.

I'll be there Saturday.   A stop at Dennie's in Enfield for breakfuss, and then off to the races!  Mine is the white van with blue lettering-NICE lettering.  It does indeed pay to advertise!

Well then, it looks like I will see you there!

And Gene, it's a shame you aren't going, I would have been looking forward to seeing you if you were! But, there is always next year.

If you have looked up the show web site, according to the web site, Bachmann Industries will be in the Better Living Center, location 22. You might check at the show in case Bachmann Industries  is moved to a different area. I think that happened once before. I "assume" the Bach Man will be in that area.

You didn't like the fried rats building? I'm sure the Hobo's lliving under the floor are very happy to have a food source and deep fryer.
Seriously, that building stank!

I should be arriving at the show @ noontime Saturday (working 2nd shift makes VERY early morning starts difficult! :-\ ).  GG, I'll be wearing a white T-shirt with B & M Pacific 3713 on it (at least on Saturday)- might help you spot me! ;)  We've got a hotel room nearby, so should be there pretty much when the show opens on Sunday. 8)                                                             Tom

I'm hiding in the Hilton by the Amtrash station. I'll have a Beatles hat, MBCR (Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad employee only :D ) Sweathshirt. and an old Gray T shirt with "GG" on the front.
Hope to see some of you there.

I saw David Harrison but he looked busy. Didn't get a chance to say hi to Mr B near the end due to a very amusing story... I was selling a cab car to his friend and his ex ( :-* ) stole the 20 out of his hand, stuck it in her shirt, and ran away, so after chasing her for half an hour we gave up and went back to the Youth Group.  :D

All the vendors and people at the show and only two guys had any On30 to speak of - well, except for the Bachmann table display only pieces.  I was thinking about buying a Climax, the old version, and the only two there sold out by noon on Saturday.

Which is about when it really gets impossible to get around, anyways - this year was worse than ever, it started right off trying to park when some clown damned near crashed into us because he couldn't wait an extra 30 seconds to park.. but then sits on his butt for like 5 minutes before getting out of the car.  By noon getting through was look for a hole you can get an arm into and just push.

I guess it's okay, I see even with shipping I can beat that one vendor's price on eBay, but still...   at least I got to drool on some 4-4-0's.

Dear All,
I had a great time at Springfield! Got to see many regulars, including Dave Harrison and Kyle, Dan Leavitt, Rich Cormier, Tom LaPointe, and about 25,000 others... but no GG!
Maybe next year...
Have fun!

I arrived at 9am Saturday having picked up two egg McMuffins. One for lunch.
Dunkin Donuts is near #6 in the B building. I was out by 2pm when it started to get busy. A little easier this year than last with fourth building. I only look. Modeling 1900, I buy everything online with careful searching first. Still nice to see what other modelers do.

OK, GG, now I know we didn't see you! :D

I should have some video up from the show in a week or so (including Mr' B. demonstrating his gorgeous RGS brass ditcher! 8) ), as soon as I get a chance to edit it & upload it to "YouTube".

Something else I hope to videotape this coming weekend - came back from Springfield with something I've been thinking about for a while - a complete 5-car New Haven streamlined passenger set (including a second Alco PA) from USA Trains! :o ;D  Also picked up a second Bachmann Climax - (the price was just too good to pass up! ).:D

Oh, & Mr. B. - the "Eureka & Palisades" 4-4-0 has definetly gone on the "must-buy" list - (if it gets my lady friend  :-* more "into" the hobby!). ;D
