Title: 0-4-0 Porter w/ Backwoods Miniatures Kit
Post by: Jeff in NJ on January 15, 2008, 11:50:40 PM
I finally decided to tackle a little project I've been putting off. It's adding a front-mounted winch and detail kit to one of my On30 0-4-0 Porters. It's a Backwoods Miniatures kit and there's quite a few pieces to assemble, all die-cast metal and etched brass stuff. The kit also adds quite a bit of weight to the loco for more pulling power. It took a few hours but the results are well worth it...

Here's the Porter w/ the added parts...

Here's the loco finished...

I have already installed DCC into this loco so this winch kit finishes this project off.

Hi Jeff,

interesting subject this Backwoods and DCC-equipped Porter.
I plan to do the same with my 0-4-2 Porter.
Did you install an sound-decoder ? Which one?
Was it difficult to do?  Any particular problems?

Thanks

Heisler

No, it's just a basic DCC decoder...a TCS M-1. It was pretty easy to do.
