Title: Track connectors
Post by: Ned on January 24, 2008, 08:40:02 AM
The only track I have at the moment is Bachmann's E-Z product.

I like the look of the more On30 specific types (e.g. Peco or Micro Engineering).

How are these pieces connected? Do they use rail joiners or is soldering required?

Thank you.

Ned;
They do use rail joiners. Soldering is not required but for a long term layout is a good idea to maintain good conductivity as the joints will corrode and cause power loss.

Ned,
give the Micro Engineering stuff a closer look: You probably will think the same what I thought a while ago: Great....

Have converted my "big" Layout /(which actually reflects some kind of DRGW/RGS "Style") to ME tracks, but stay on my "small" Logging Layout with Peco, which looks (to me...) somewhat more rural for a Logging or Mining Theme... But this is up to one´s own taste!

Just try, for Peco or ME track, HO Scale Rail Connectors. They usually work fine. Best take a piece of track or turnout to your favorite Model RR Store and have a try before buying this stuff. But HO Connectors usually are fine.

Kind regards, Tom
