What is a track roller used for?

Just curious.

Thanks.

Looks to me like they are the units that you can run your locomotive on without it going anywhere... A test stand if you will...

DLM is correct.  These are placed a piece of  track and powered by the power pack.  It is an inexpensive "test track" - especially for breaking in or testing  engines.

They can also be used to make a very nice dynamic display stand for a steamer. Hook up your DCC and watch her run.......sound would work.....smoke too if you're so inclined.
