Title: dcc compatible power pack
Post by: paulb321 on February 07, 2008, 08:57:37 PM
:)Will using the Bachmann #44212 pwr. pack that is
dcc compatible eliminate the over heating
problem when operating an analog loco on my dcc
layout? I am now using the Bachmann DCC COMMANDER
controller.I just bought a PRARIE 2-6-2 Bachmann
loco that is not dcc. Thanks all.

Dear Paul,
I believe analog locos will overheat when idled on a DCC layout regardless of the system you are using. Park them on a siding that can be turned off.
Have fun!

:)I understand the idle loco part about over heating now.
What about over heating while running the analog loco
on the system I stated, using the Bachmann 44212
controller in conjunction with my DCC COMMANDER
controller?Thanks again.

The locomotive will still be subject unto the DCC power.  All that the adjoining DC pack will do is to provide an additional throttle for your DC loco and add a tenth DCC loco address.
