Here are the first Thomas announcements of the year. As with other scales, there may be more down the road.
We will be releasing a conductor figure, Edward, Mavis,Salty, a mail car, Spencer's special coach, Henrietta, and a switch tower.

Edward will be my first and most important priority.
Depending on how good Salty is, the might be some class 07 models coming soon. ;) I already thought that a Y6 from a Bachmann Toby was a good idea.
The HO Salty will sure make up for me not getting the ERTL model when it came out. :D

Funny that you mentioned that, I told Mark (beatiesmark) about it on MSN, he was really happy about it too. :P I can just tell that this year is gonna be a great year for Bachmann Trains. ;)
Without a doubt I'm getting Salty, Henrietta, and Spencer's coach. I'll also order 2-4 mail cars too. :)

I cant to see how the mail vans turn out. As the Hornby ones were pritty fab.
Also another good idea for Bachmann is to make brown mail vans. Hey presto you have the flying kipper!
That's awesome news, Mr. Bach-Man! I'm definately going to end up getting all of them (and the ones I haven't bought yet from the older stuff), but I'm surprised (not disappointed one bit!) that Salty is your first diesel engine besides Mavis. I thought it would be Diesel for sure (but what do I know...)!

If anything, Stanley will come at some stage. With him being in a new feature, he will become quite popular with children and parents. Kader (who own bachmann) would be looking at producing something for profit, rather than demand with the consumer group. Hence the reason only popular charcters have so far been produced.

Kader only produce models to gain money in the Thomas range, so only characters who have a large screen time will be produced. Or they will look at the sales of characters in othern product lines ie: Tomy, Wooden, Take-along.

Actually, i watched some of Season 11 a few days ago, and Rosie was in quite a few of the episodes, and besides there mainly just being MALE characters being produced into models, it would be nice to see a few more female engines being made in the near future alongside some old faves from Seasons 2 - 7.
It would make sense too if they did make Rosie, mainly because of how popular she is becoming. Rocky has a chance of coming out by Bachmann too and maybe Harvey would be good too.
Also, yes I would have liked to see Duck, Diesel, and Rosie, maybe even Arthur too. I'm still happy though that they are making the rolling stock we are all wanting and same with Salty. So overall, you should be happy with what you get, don't bite the hand that feeds you. ;)

I do not want to make existing thomas characters I rather leave that to bachmann & I only want to do original thomas characters.
Well what do you want us to do about it? The only people that can fulfill our/your Thomas and Friends model railway needs are Bachmann and yourself, (or Hornby if you like their models as well. I myself own three). What Bachmann produces each year is what we get, and I have not been disappointed by any of their models yet, even if it is not the desired character I would've wanted to be released, they are extremely accurate and leave me speechless each time. If you aren't quite the 'modeler', like I am :P lol, then you're gonna have to wait just like the rest of us. Just be patient, everyone will get theirs in the end. K? :D
Well I can tell you if the Bach-Man were any where near me when he said what was going to be released for this year I would be shaking his hand for hours. ;D
I wonder when we will get to see test shots? ??? I cant wait for edward and salty!!
It takes a long time to make mouldings accurate and correct, and Bachmann make wonderful models with great time and care, i just cannot wait to see what Salty turns out like when he does eventually come around....
Edward and Mavis are mainly top of my list for 2008 models to get when they come around, Edward is am most wanting to see.
Me to!!! :D When I get Edward after Henry I will have engines 1 through 7. ;D
Now we need Duck, Donald, and Douglas to make it an even 10.

see would be a Scruffy model that comes apart("I'm coming apaaaart!"),the
coupling hooks,brake pipes,and buffers available in packs,the bogies found
on the express coaches available in packs,and a model of Lady.

I agree that Duck, Donald, Douglas, Oliver, Bill, Ben and Diesel are all models that could be produced in the near future. But, i can't see how Lady would be added, she has only had one appearance in the T&TMRR movie, and she only made a short role in CAE, so i don;t see how she could be a popular engine if she has not had a proper tv series role.
But, again, i am looking forward to seeing what Edward turns out like, top priority on my list.

Oliver is a definant want on my list.
I'd say Oliver would sell pretty well. Also I'd really like to see Diesel. BTW yes, I am Billbarman from youtube.

Nice Ricky, glad to see you got an account here, this is Charlie as you have probably figured :)
Oliver and Diesel would be great additions to the Bachmann line. The Hornby Oliver model is a great one, but that being said if Bachmann did make an Oliver it might turn out even better. I personally never liked the Hornby Diesel, and I think a Bachmann Diesel would be a really great idea too. ;)
Personally I'd like Duck and Billy.
In my opinion though on that, Duck has way more of a chance of coming out then Billy does. I'm not saying this just because Duck is my favorite engine, but it is because Duck has been known longer then Billy and Duck's prototype is available in the Bachmann UK website and it should be easier to modify into a Thomas model.
I'm gladto hear that Salty & Henrietta are being released (although that means I made my bachmann Henrietta for nothing......), but 1 thing is still bugging me, Bach-Man, are Edward & Mavis still going to be released by the end of the month? ???
Edward and Mavis were pushed back 'till March.

Besides in this situation I am personally glad that they are taking more time into making their models. The more time and effort they put in their models, the better they will turn out once they are done. :)

That I am not sure of, most likely no. We probably won't see pictures of any of the new stuff until the end of this year.

lol, there is only one problem there. ;) I know several people have made Henriettas. I also know a few that made Salty. Just goes to show you have to be patient.
You know what?...I am glad that salty is now going to be done by bachmann..but since production is slowing down a bit I gonna have to get a job at bachmann industries just to speed it up more. ::)
Are you saying Bachmann will hire you for a job? If so, no offense, but I highly doubt it. I mean how old are you, I don't think they will let someone under 18 work there. Plus, I don't think they will hire some random person who comes in asking for a job there.

Kid, listen to me, Bachmann will most likely not hire you, and as GG said if they do hire you that still won't change the fact that the models will need more time to be completed.
The time is actually the best part believe it or not when it comes to Bachmann making their models. Would you like to have three terrible models of Edward, Mavis and Salty by next week or a really good Edward, Mavis, and Salty in a few months? The best part of Bachmann always has been and always will be is the good quality and the time they put into their models to make them look really realistic to the television series. I know it may be hard to be patient with this kind of stuff and it is frustrating for everybody, but forcing stuff like this to come sooner isn't going to help anybody in this situation. Besides once the models are completed I promise you it will be worth the wait. ;)

GG is right. And... I say this nicely, but... one person can't speed production up, even though you are trying to help. It does take time to make the body, chassis, and eye mechanics for a new engine each and everytime. Bachmann does do a awesome job which I am never disappointed in and I rather it be slow and superb than quick and junk.
I'll just start on an engine one at a time then finish them all the same way I started the engines. ;D
Dude. You know nothing about the company... Bachmann designs the models(probably in the USA), and send the designs to a company in Japan which makes the molds and produces the models(they also do the production of model trains for many other companies). You won't get a job, or speed up production so stop talking about it!
I do remember that last year Bachmann started to produce Williams so Guilford Guy/ Alex is right Railwaypark. :P
Willliams is a division of bachmann. The factory in Japan also does models for Atlas and P2k, or maybe its MTH... whatever it is they specialize in producing model railway equipment for companies.
Bachmann here are the tips to make mavis:
1.Build a class 04 diesel shunter.
2.Attatch side plates on sides.
3.Attatch cowcatcher on front & back.
4.Paint the front part & back part yellow with black hazzard stripes.
5.Be sure to add the white little text on the sides.
6.Stick the face on the front of the engine. ;)
Railwaypark, for the last time the Bach-man knows what he is doing. I am sure he knows what Mavis looks like so don't post stuff that him and everyone else knows already. :P

He thinks it's really THAT simple to make Mavis and Edward. Look, kid, Bachmann aren't here to build cheap models, they take their time. And if they actually decided to make a class 04 and base it off the mould, it would take even longer to get the mould done for the 04, and that much more longer to modify it into Mavis. That's not what they do. BACK. ON. TOPIC.

Very true. I am sure Edward will turn out perfectly once he is finished. Something does tell me though that the switch tower and rolling stock will come out after Edward and Mavis...oh well, I am sure that they will be great all the same. ;)

When they come out, who will we have all this attention and anticipation over next? lol :P Yes, I agree. The rolling stock and both characters should come out BEAUTIFULLY. Not to mention, Salty to look forward to..
I believe salty comes out during the summer & edward & mavis are out on november.
Salty wouldn't come out before Edward and Mavis, that would be ridiculous because Edward and Mavis were thought of way before Salty was. I think Salty would either come out at the same time or most likely after Edward and Mavis are out.
I think Edward and Mavis might be out by December `08. Salty would probably be out in December `09.

Most likely the ones that are used in the TV series, so indeed it will most likely be similar to the ones on the bottom, only not N scale. ;)

And we all know that mavis is based on a class 04 diesel.
There are actually both 4 wheeled mail vans AND bogie mailvans used on the show. In One Good Turn, when the twins are shunting in and out of the shed you can see both at once.
