Title: DCC Help4newbie
Post by: ModemCowboy on February 24, 2007, 01:52:39 PM
hello, thanks in advance for any help/replies.
Re: EZ Command
a)is part#44907 walk-around companion, ie throttle, same as 'throttle' unit contained in system, part#44902? - if yes, can later be substituted for previous?
b) as per manual, "Note: When operating an older analog locomotive be sure to monitor it closely.  Some analog motors are subject to overheating and damage when they are run for long periods of time on  DCC systems"
- does this apply to bachmann on30 mogul, porters, trolley, etc? how 'bout bachmann HO donor mechanisms or athearn, atlas chassis'? chronologically, when did motors 'get better'?
- any way to monitor this besides touch or smell
- prevention? resistor or ? installed in analog loco? replace motor?

i hope this isnt forum overload!

I have been gathering parts/donors for critter bashes but wont waste my time if i cant reasonably operate these creatures in analog mode

Certainly the On30 Porter locos have a distinct 'buzz' when they are run on DCC powered track. Can't help with the other ones or the various add-ons - I use a different DCC system.
