Title: Berkshire and Lionel transformer
Post by: mikemarxs on March 29, 2008, 01:07:59 AM
When I run my Berkshire using a Lionel CW80 transformer, the bell and whistle work, it smokes OK, but doesn't reverse. Is it a transformer issue, or the engine?

The CW-80 transformer does not sequence ANY brand electronic reverse board correctly unless a light bulb is hooked directly to the track power.  If you add a lighted caboose or passenger car to the train it will sequence properly.  If you do not have either of these, you can wire a house light, lighted lock-on, or other lighted accessory to the track.

Have fun!

I was always under the impression that Williams locos ran only with transformers with 90 watts or more.I guess I was wrong.I know they had problems with early MRC transforers.
