Well there is always a downside to any change.

 8) Looks cool. But I was a bit confused when I first tried to log in because for some reason I had not been sent an activation e-mail.

Well, I for one am extremely happy! With our own forum we won't have to wade through all of the other scales.......stuff!

Yorkie,
I also was not advised.  I had to reregister, as the board would not accept my previous login (good security measure to weed out the undesireables).

I didn't recieve an email either...

When I went to the B-mann main page and
came to the forums,  my old registration wouldn't work.
Re-registered,  then the confimation link wouldn't work...
Tried once more later (now) and it finally went through.

Thanks for the new boards,.
It's nice to not have to wade through the posts about
other scales find posts relative to Large Scale.

Bets are on that they had no intention of sending out e-mails to "members".

Why let the Russkie SPAMmers and cashette morons know where to go and how to sign up?

Glad to see the change, too. Now, let's see if my profile info got entered properly...

"Preview" and "Edit," too.

Now, about that EBT mikado...

Kevin what's the EBT Mikado?

Kevin, I've been away from G Scale for a couple years. I just picked up GR and saw your article, it was good reading, I'm just sorry I missed the others.  I have a large layout covered with grass, does anyone make a car that eats grass. Soon as the weather breaks, I'll start getting it ready for serious running.

Very nice.

Requiring re-registration is a good thing for all the reasons TOC mentioned. I like the tag selection too. Customizing posts is very convenient.

This looks a far more professional board.  Hopefully the unwanted posts will not be on it. ;D

I am pleased to see it segregated into individual scales of interest and hopefully it will be used by more people.

Tinibert, check the current GR for Rich Yoder Models. He's doing a brass model of the EBT's mikados. There are a few of us who have been relentless (to put it politely) in our efforts to have Bachmann produce one in plastic. It's become somewhat of a running joke between a few of us here.

As for the grass-eating train, perhaps a "yard goat?"

Later,

K

("Yard goat" is slang for a switching locomotive.)

Kevin,
When I click on your logo, it "almost" gets there...but can't find the server.

Looks like some sort of wierd substitution...I don't recall what a %22 is...

OK.   I found the problem.   I had set it up like on other boards, which all required quotes around the URL parameter.

Once I removed the quotes, I got mine to work.

Brass is beyond my reach.  I have a friend, I run trains with and he has a pile of it.  He has a MTH Big Boy that's really great.

Like the new format. Having to register again was no problem. If this helps stop some of the spam it will have been well worth the change. :)

Ok I got the heads up elsewhere and came over to re-register. No issues doing that and for obivous (or maybe not so obvious to some) reasons didn't feel put out at all.

All the usual people anyway. I'll "try" to keep up here too.

Very nice new board.  Seperating the scales is nice, IF the newbie's know what scale they have. ::)

Hi everyone,

Four days have passed since my initial posting and comments on this new board.  It seems to be working well and is. I am sure, well received by most folk.

It does seem strange, as others have commented, on all the "newbie" titles.  It wont be long, however, before the frequent posters get promoted  ;D

Anyway, at present it is quite egalitarian.

I don't know I bang on till I'm blue in the face about separating the forums to save all us LS'ers from the Thomas kids >:( and to make it easier to find any scale subject as nobody could be bothered to choose the right scale to put their messages in and I get sick (well, verry ill actually) and don't get to the forum for a couple of months and when I return its all new! :o Everything I was banging on about is here! Fantastic! Well Done! ;D THANK YOU!

Mike

Greetings,
Virtually a month has now passed with the new board.  How great it has been to be rid of the "unwanted rubbish" that cluttered the posts.

Long may it be so!     ;D
