Title: The new 4-4-0 American
Post by: kstrafo on July 19, 2008, 09:01:13 PM
For the Bach Man

Is this engine DCC equiped and if not,  can it be DCC equiped?  Are the circuit boards in the tender?   How about sound?  How hard is it to install sound in 4-4-0?

I'm not the Bach Man but I'll give it a shot in answering your questions.

The 4-4-0 American is not DCC equipped.  It is DCC ready.  The documentation provided with the engine has a page that addresses DCC conversion.

Main circuit board is in the locomotive.

No sound.  Provisions for sound are in the tender.  Adding sound, such as Phoenix, is easy.

Thanks for the info.  Ordered my 4-4-0 and I am eagerly awaiting its arrival.  It is supposed to be a excellent model. Thanks

Kstrato,
You won't be disappointed! I got my first 4-4-0 in March and it has been an excellent performer.  It looks great and runs even better.  Don't tell anyone, but I actually pulled 18 cars with her on a nasty grade last weekend.  Since mine is a first run, the wheels tend to work loose every now and then (need to loctite them once I repaint to Olive and Russia Iron).  Otherwise, it is just a beautiful locomotive.  I can't believe I waited this long to get one!
