Title: Bachmann "Royal Blue Line..G Scale. Need help....
Post by: domer on September 01, 2008, 02:32:11 PM
Gentlemen:

My daughter's neighbor brought over her deceased father's subject train (boxed set). Knowing that I had a model train layout, they thought I could provide some information on the value of this Bachmann, "Royal Blue Line".

I haven't been able to find anything out this set on line, so  would appreciate any insight on value of this set.

Hello Donner,

The Royal Blue set by Bachmann in G Scale Item #90016 is one of the longest running highest selling G scale sets ever sold anywhere!

It came out in 1989 and stayed in the catalog til 1998.  It was in such high demand that Bachmann re released it in 2001 and 2002.  Since that time it has no longer been in the catalog.  most of the sets did not have a good gear train, but sets which came out in 2001 and 2002 had the latest version 5 chassis which is extremely good.

Based on a study of over 100 sales of this item on EBay, the lowest price paid fo this set was $51, and the highest price paid was 202.50.  My research also shows an average price of $111.34.  All mprices before any shipping

It is a very popular set and should sell well!

Good luck!

Hey, many thanks. I appreciate the timely response.  I am primarily a Lionel guy and haven't much experience with Bachmann and esp G trains.  Now I will  try and get this lady to have her son build a layout and run it.  Always trying to get the little nubbins interested in our hobby.
