does anyone have a picture of one they can share? i want to purchase one but i would like to know what it looks like because when i heard of it i was reading a book. thanks for any pictures

They can go around 18" radius curves. They 50" drivers, and a rather small, not much larger than the Spectrum 2-8-0, and much smaller than any of the Bachmann 4-8-4 models.
There are four distinct versions; the originals with open frame motors, then came a very short span of ones with Sagami motors, and the final pre-MP take over ones with Mabuchi motors. The Sagami are the best, with the Mabuchi not far behind.
Model Power purchase the Mantua line a few years ago, and the 2-6-6-2 is available again, with some changes, including a DCC socket.
The 2-6-6-2 chassis is basically two 0-6-0/2-6-2 Mantua/Tyco chassis put together.

This post got me curious as to the new "classic" 2-6-6-2 Mantua models, I found a few on the web and ended up buying the GN green version.
Who has one of the new units and how do they run?
I hear they run very well. You can get the katest Model Power/Mantua version with a tender (brand new, factory fresh) from Trainworld for $99.95. The tank engine version is $10 less.
Thanks for the info, when searching the web for the engine I was surprised at how much detail the new "old" Mantua has. Not quite up to the standard of the brass models but at 20% of their price a great start. I new about the tank versions but was unaware of the tender version. Can hardly wait now for the item to arrive. Darn, checked quit a few of the dealers but missed the Trainworld site, oh well it was only a few dollars more. Darn.
