Title: Sand dome removal from Connie
Post by: Gary Armitstead on October 09, 2008, 05:55:52 PM
Anyone removed the sand dome from the Connie? As I undserstand it, you just remove the top cap and then remove the screw from the base and it lifts off the boiler. I can't seem to budge the top cap off. Any suggestions?

Just keep twisting the top cap of the sand dome, it will eventually come off.  Just to make sure, the sand dome is the smaller of the two.  There is glue there so it will snap, crakle, and pop (sorry Kellogs) until it comes off.

Yes it's the smaller dome in the front next to the stack. I thought it was just a tight fit and NOT GLUED. I'll keep trying. THX

It might not be glued, I just twisted it enough to see that it would come off, and it just keep making cracking and poping sounds.  It stayed in one piece though.
