Title: wrong stripes and wheels on 2544AO
Post by: ddbockwi on October 16, 2008, 03:35:12 PM
Purchased set of red stripe Santa Fe 60ft aluminum cars through Matt's trains in Milwaukee.  Thought they would match MTH set I had purchased earlier.  Williams catalog showed narrow dark red stripes and black wheels. Received cars with wide lighter red stripes and silver wheels. Boxend reads 2544AO Santa Fe Super Chief 60ft Aluminum Luxury Liners 2 Car Add On Set. Was I accidently shipped Traditional Line cars instead of Golden Memories?  Purchased alumunum cars to simulate set from Lionel in the 60s.  Already had 2383 from 1961.  Did Williams change car design or was I victimized by shipping snafu?

Actually, the ATSF did not have red stripes on their passenger cars.  (So I think!)  But that red stripe in the letterboard, and no stripes nowhere else would be an excellent start for the SP SUNSET stype passenger train paint scheme!
