Title: Simple DCC Controller and multiple tracks
Post by: ITPete on March 12, 2007, 09:34:28 AM
I just picked up a new Bachmann DCC system with 2 locomotives and a single controller.  I want to know if it is possible to use the controller to control 2 or 3 simple loops of track, not attached to each other in any way.  I am very limited on space for now, but want to have a couple trains still going at once.  Can I just split the wires that go to the track and add more leads from it?  Would I need the booster pack to add more amps to the setup?

1: You can connect all three loops of track as you describe.

2: No you do not need a booster unless you are running more than
four or five loco's at once.

I am assuming that you are referring to HO or N scale trains.

If you are running a larger scale the number of loco's at a time will
have to be reduced according to their current draw.

I concur with Tim. It should work. I have two loops that are joined with a couple of turnouts, but they are insulated, and everything works correctly.
